Mohmmand Dam to be completed in 2023: Khursheed Shah

ISLAMABAD, Jun 8 (APP): Federal Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Wednesday said that the construction work at Mohmmand Dam was in full swing and it would be completed in 2023.

“I will visit the sites of Dasu and Bhasha dams after four days, on June 12,” he informed media persons during a press conference here.

He said the water situation in dams will also improve as more rains were expected during upcoming moon soon season.

He said the work on Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal (CRBC) project would resume which will be a real game changer for socio- economic uplift. Former Prime Minister Zulifakar Ali Bhutto had given a gift in shape of CRBC.

The minister said the coalition government had ordered resumption of work on the projects, which had been put in cold storage by the last Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government.

He said the present government had completed some projects on urgent basis which lay unfinished in four years of the PTI government.

He further said that the government had to take some unpopular steps in a difficult economic situation.

Syed Khursheed went on saying that three million tonnes of wheat would be imported this year. “Our priority is to develop the agriculture sector so that the country’s imports could be reduced,” he added.

Replying to a question, he said all the politicians should sit together to sort out problems of national issues.
